The community of Colorado Springs, Colorado is mourning the death of Jamie Novick, a respected flight nurse, devoted mother, and compassionate caregiver who was among the four people killed in a tragic medical transport plane crash in the mountains of New Mexico.
Jamie Novick built a life centered around service. After leaving the Air Force, she committed herself to nursing school and went on to serve patients at Memorial Hospital in downtown Colorado Springs, where she spent much of her career working overnight shifts. Her dedication to patient care earned her the Nurse of the Year award, a reflection of the impact she made on both colleagues and the people she treated. Only months before the crash, she began working as a flight nurse, a role her family said she truly loved.
Her father, Greg Bunch, described Jamie as “one of the most incredible human beings any of us could have ever known,” remembering her for her compassion, laughter, beauty, and unwavering love for others. Beyond her professional accomplishments, Jamie was deeply cherished as a wife, mother of two children, daughter, and sister.
Her passing comes during an already painful chapter for the family, following the loss of her older brother, Mark Bunch, in a car accident just over a year ago. In a heartbreaking tribute, Greg Bunch shared that his “two oldest kids are now in heaven together,” words that have resonated deeply with many across the Colorado Springs community.
